About Bluegrass Omagh
Bluegrass Omagh is a music festival that values its roots.
The great waves of emigrants who left the shores of Ulster in the 18th and 19th centuries travelled with songs, stories and memories that took root in communities throughout America. None more so than in the heartland of Appalachia, stretching from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia to the Great Smoky Mountains of North Carolina.
The hymns and ballads of Appalachia, alongside influences from African-American blues and jazz, created the baseline for the evolution of bluegrass, old-time, Americana and country, all of which are genres that strike a resonant chord within the depths of our DNA.
Set within the unique setting of the Ulster American Folk Park, Bluegrass Omagh pays homage to the heritage and legacy of the Appalachian settlers. Not just through the musicianship, but through the hearty welcome, wholesome food, and artisan craftwork.
Over the last three decades, we’ve become one of the largest bluegrass events outside of North America, welcoming thousands of fans and receiving worldwide praise from visitors, musicians and media alike. We are so proud of the recognition received from professional Bluegrass associations across the globe. Especially our “Bluegrass Event of the Year” nomination by the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA)!
