Gormacha play gospel and blues songs dating from the golden era between the mid-1920s and mid-930s.  Dermot Rooney was described by The Irish Times‘ music critic as ‘an astounding bottleneck blues guitarist’ whose ’playing is marked by a modesty and attention to the fine detail that sets him apart’. A recent concert was described by The Sunflower Club as follows:

‘A full house was treated to a captivating performance by Gormacha, our headline act. The vocals of Alison McGuiness with the slide guitar of Dermot Rooney were outstanding. The songs were wide ranging, in their distinctive blues style.’

Alison and Dermot will be joined by the much in demand singers Kristen Hansen and Kira Topalian.  Together they will perform a range of their favourite early blues and gospel songs, bringing the blues to bluegrass.
