Bluegrass music... plus a little extra!

We’re excited to bring Bluegrass back to the Ulster American Folk Park in 2025, celebrating the rich musical heritage of our ancestors. While Bluegrass remains at the heart of the festival, this year we’re introducing elements of Folk and Traditional music to honour the full journey of our ancestors – from their roots in Ulster to their new lives in America. 

Rest assured, we remain committed to preserving and celebrating true Bluegrass, while also shining a light on the genres that helped shape the music we all love. We look forward to another unforgettable festival for our dedicated fans!

Bow Brothers

Bow Brothers is an exceptional ensemble, featuring some of the most celebrated and influential musicians in the world of traditional Irish music. Formed by a unique combination of artists whose reputations span decades, the band brings together virtuosity, passion, and the deep cultural resonance of Irish folk music. The group includes six distinguished musicians: Cathal Hayden, Stephen Hayden, Niall Murphy, Jim Higgins, Seamie O’Dowd, and Brian McGrath—each of whom has made a significant impact on the world of Irish music. Rawhide

Founded in 1977, Rawhide is a multi-award-winning six-piece bluegrass ensemble from Belgium, renowned across Europe for pushing the boundaries of bluegrass and blending it with styles like barbershop, classical, swing, and pop. Their live shows are a mix of tasteful instrumental and vocal music, paired with plenty of humor both during and between songs. With Rawhide, you can always expect the unexpected. Zoë Conway & John Mc Intyre

With an exciting blend of eclectic fiddle and guitar music, Zoë Conway and John Mc Intyre take the stage with sympathetic arrangements of traditional Irish music, along with compositions and songs, both old and new. This talented husband-and-wife folk duo has a rare ability to incorporate pieces from other genres, such as classical, jazz, and world music, expressing them in a way that showcases not only the wide range and expertise of both musicians but also the remarkable versatility of their instruments. King Springs Road

King Springs Road is a Dutch-American-German band formed in the hills of East Tennessee in 2017 by bluegrass-loving college roommates. The story began on King Springs Road in Johnson City, TN, after a lively picking party. That night, Tyler Griffith (USA) and Josh Meade (USA) started working on new songs in the basement and decided to form a band. They quickly brought in Josh Morgan (USA), Kylie Anderson (USA), and Tyler's roommates Owen Shinkel (NL) and Max Silverstein (USA) to complete the ensemble. Thus, King Springs Road was born. The band now includes bassist Nienke Bruinsma (NL), Lukas Grabe (D) on banjo, and Katja Grabe (D) on rhythm guitar and vocals. Genre: Bluegrass

Table for Two

Table for Two is the duo project of Signe Borch from Denmark and Thierry Schoysman from Belgium, with close harmony taking center stage. What began in May 2016 as a marathon jam session of traditional bluegrass on guitar, banjo, and vocals has since evolved into a diverse repertoire, blending elements from various styles. Genre: Bluegrass

Cool Hand String Band

Cool Hand String Band are a group of energetic, bluegrass enthusiasts who have combined their individual musical influences to create a unique sound within the genre. The band consists of Conor Conway on bass guitar, Nevin Colton on guitar and vocals, Bronagh Broderick on violin and vocals and Gary McAleer on 5-string banjo. Hailing from Omagh, Co. Tyrone they are delighted to be back in their hometown for another great year at the festival. Genre: Bluegrass

The Armagh Rhymers

The Armagh Rhymers are one of the most celebrated traditional music and theatre ensembles on the island of Ireland. The masked tradition of rhyming with its unique blend of music, drama, song and dance dates back over 2,500 years. Originally a rural tradition, groups of Rhymers (also known as Mummers, Wren Boys, Biddymen, Strawboys), would dress in costumes made from materials gathered around the home to go from house to house to entertain friends and neighbours. Saelkie Folk

Maureen O'Donoghue and Jordan Kay form Saelkie Folk, a folk duo inspired by the myth of the "Seal People" from Scots folklore. Together, they bring to life mellow, heartfelt songs that draw from their rich musical heritage. Reimagining traditional songs from the seas of Ireland, Scotland, and France, they blend influences ranging from medieval music to Appalachian Old Time, Bluegrass, and more, creating fresh and original arrangements. Saelkie Folk offers a captivating musical journey across languages, lands, and waters. Genre: Trad / Folk / Bluegrass
